In San Diego, Shop with Allen’s Flowers to Celebrate National Rose Month

Allen's Flowers Allen's FlowersĀ offers the very best fresh roses in San Diego. We have roses of all types and colors.Ā  Because June is designated as National Rose Month, this is the perfect time to shop with us. In addition, we also offer many other varieties of flowers and plants. Most recently, I was provided with a sensational article regarding roses that was written by the Chairman of the Society of American Florists. There is so much great information in the article, and it is so relevant for National Rose Month that I wanted to share it. Roses are the most popular flower in the world, with over a billion stems sold annually. Over 250 million are produced for Valentineā€™s Day alone. They are popular because of their beautiful colors, shape and petal structure, as well as their lovely fragrance. While many landscape roses have 5 petals, hybrid tea roses, those produced for commercial cutting, can have up to 40 petals. Best of all, there are always new varieties to discover with over 150 rose species and thousands of fabulous cultivars. June is National Rose Month, a perfect time for me to share with you some of my favorite varieties, not ranked, because they are simply too beautiful to pick a favorite. Alabaster is a breathtaking, off-white rose with many soft, delicate petals. Catalina warms my soul with creamy yellow petals that reveal sunshine as they open. Ashley is a luscious pink rose that is not too pale and not too bold. Juliet captivates me with a very interesting petal structure and perfect peach color. Miyabi Wabara is a pink rose with a peach heart and wonderfully ruffled petals. Free Spirit combines yellow, peach and pink in its countless petals. Just WOW! [...]

In addition to being the best shopping day of the season, Black Friday is also known as the beginning of USA Christmas shopping season. Last year, when Covid was peaking, many people opted for online purchasing so they could safely shop from home. That has been a growing trend for several years and now has become even more popular. Allen's Flowers Fortunate individuals have a great boss they respect, appreciate and value working with.Ā  One special way to express sincere gratitude this Boss's Day is to send a flower arrangement from Allen's Flowers!Ā  People easily recognize that talented leaders are the ones that encourage us to be at our best while continually helping us feel motivated and positive about our accomplishments and contributions.Ā  Allen's Flowers has the freshest, most thoughtful and most creative floral presentations to reflect just how much respect and appreciation you have for your boss. The idea of "National Boss's Day" was offered up to the United States Chamber of Commerce in 1958. The thoughtful woman who introduced the concept was working for her father as a secretary at a State Farm Insurance Company in Illinois. In her observation, it did not seem clear to younger workers that their supervisors were dedicated, committed and hard working individuals. She felt their dedication needed to be realized and appreciated. While it used to be common place to simply give your boss or supervisor a thank you card, today it is appropriate, in most offices, to give he or she a gift. Typical gifts are candy and chocolates. In many cases employees pool their money to buy even bigger gifts. Do you have a special boss that you would like to give a special floral gift to? We have just what you need at Allen's Flowers! In addition to beautiful flower arrangements and bouquets from Allen's Flowers, below are a few additional great ideas to make your boss feel special. Most people in the office enjoy potluck events. You might arrange and host a potluck and keep your boss's favorite foods and beverages in mind. Give your boss a positive [...]

Make St. Patrick’s Day a Lucky Day with a Green Bouquet

St. Patrick's Day arrives on March 17th. It's a celebratory day with roots in Ireland, but that doesn't mean you need to be Irish to celebrate this day and enjoy the fun. It's a fun-filled day with traditional fare like corned beef and cabbage and maybe even a green beer or two. Because it's originally an Irish celebration, St. Patrick's Day involves a lot of green, including green clothing and green decor for your home. After all, everyone wants the luck of the Irish to rub off on them. A good way to get into the spirit of St. Patrick's Day is to add some green flowers and green plants to your life and to those other special people in your life. Our San Diego flower shops and website offer you a wide range of ways to make St. Patrick's Day a lucky day for yourself and others. Our green floral designs include many styles and sizes, such as modern, botanical, and tropical. The wide selection of styles means there is something for everyone so they can celebrate St. Patrick's Day in style. You can also contact our floral designers to order a custom bouquet or custom arrangement for St. Patrick's Day that offers a truly unique gift on this day of green. Another option is to select from our plant collection, which includes tropical plants, indoor green plants, succulents, dish and basket gardens, and flowering plants. There are also many sizes, shapes, and styles among our plant collection. We also have large plants and trees. These plants are a long-lasting way to add luck and good health to yourself and to others that extends well past St. Patrick's Day. Finally, consider one of our gift crates that includes a succulent [...]

Celebrate the New Year with the Best Holiday Decor

I don't think anyone doesn't want this year to be over already. We would like to put 2020 behind us. Never have we looked so forward to a new year, hoping it brings positive change from the challenges of this past year. That gives even more meaning to New Year's Eve celebrations as we ring in a new year with perhaps more enthusiasm than has been seen in many years. We may even want to raise the bar on decorating for our at-home New Year's celebrations. Besides decorating your own home, this may be a good time to shower your loved ones with festive winter decor. The good news is that you can still enjoy the holiday florals and plants you added for Christmas as part of your own New Year's celebrations. You may want to add other fresh winter floral arrangements to celebrate the "new" year. Add some white or cream flowers to your overall design to bring these two celebrations together as you go from on occasion to the next. The week after Christmas and before New Year's is an ideal time to send others some love, including those that might have sent you a present or as part of your annual client gifts that you opt to send to kick off the new year. We still have many beautiful white and blue floral designs that provide an elegant winter floral display for this special occasion. Also, our holiday gift crates are a good idea for clients and loved ones, especially those that come with a bottle of champagne or wine to toast the New Year! These are parties in a box with decor or food to accompany the bottle of your choice. Order by phone or through our [...]

Think Pink During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness across the country and in San Diego. It's a month dedicated to raising awareness and funds to help more people be aware of getting mammograms and doing more to help stop breast cancer. In the past, San Diego has been the home to many fundraisers and Breast Cancer Awareness events. However, due to COVID-19, many events have been cancelled this year. This includes many runs/walks as well as ceremonies. However, others are carrying on in a virtual format. For example, the Susan G. Komen Foundation of San Diego is hosting a virtual event on November 1st. Doing it virtually is intended to keep awareness going as well as continue to raise money for this important cause. What You Can Do Outside of external events throughout San Diego, you may know someone fighting breast cancer or who has survived it. You can do many things to raise awareness about breast cancer on your own without these organized events. Here are some ideas to get you started: Change your social media profile to add a breast cancer awareness sticker or frame. Share information about breast cancer survival and early detection measures. Post pictures of those you know who have survived and those you have lost to remind your social circle of the importance of early detection. Donate to a charity or nonprofit that is aiding in the fight against breast cancer. Focus on those that provide the most support to those fighting this disease. Cut off some of your hair and donate to an organization that makes wigs. Help someone you know who has cancer with whatever they may need for themselves or to help care for their families while they fight cancer. Wear pink wherever you go [...]
