Summer Wedding Season is Here

With summer just around the corner, we’ve been super busy preparing for numerous weddings throughout the San Diego area. As we work with brides, we are seeing a number of seasonal trends this year that we would like to share with you: Seasonal and rustic woodland bouquets and flower arrangements that include foraged branches, lush ferns, and locally sourced flowers Loosely bundled bouquets that look as they have just been picked from the garden with vines and branches cascading down the sides Glamorous styles with textiles and accessories that add bling to a chic wedding theme Heirloom varieties of old-fashioned flowers like mums and carnations as well as chrysanthemums, zinnias, and English sweet peas Large, long centerpieces in raised compotes or terra cotta vases along King’s tables Color trends like blush, peach-pink, sunset orange, rust and coral as well as darker foliage Heavy use of foliage like leaves, vines, and branches Metallic colors like rose gold Ombre color designs with colors arranged from darkest to lightest in floral bouquet or floral centerpieces Flower walls as photo backdrops Hanging decorations and roof garlands for marquee tents Of course, you don’t have to follow the summer trends and just go with your own preferences. After all, it is your big day and you should have exactly what you want in terms of wedding flowers. The pictures in this blog post are from other San Diego weddings where we have been honored to provide the floral decor and bouquets for the bride and the wedding party. As you can see, we are adept at indoor and outdoor wedding flowers. We work with all the major San Diego wedding venues so have a good sense of what fits and how many flowers you will need. [...]

Memorial Day in San Diego

Each year, there are Memorial Day ceremonies in San Diego to remember and reflect on all of our fallen heroes as a way to thank them for protecting our freedom. This includes Miramar National Cemetery on May 29th at 1:00p.m. and Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on May 30th at 10:00a.m. The USS Midway Museum also hosts its annual Legacy Week to celebrate Memorial Day with many activities and events. On May 28th at 9:00a.m., there is the Veterans Wreath Ceremony as well as Concert at 7:30p.m. with former members of many American rock bands. May 28-30th offers a Kids Adventure Discovery Zone while May 29-30 is Meet the Aviators and their Planes. May 30th at 11:00a.m. is the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Band Arizona Performance and a Blood Drive from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. You may be planning your own personal remembrance by visiting a cemetery or sending someone flowers to let them know you are thinking of them and their fallen hero on this day of observance. Here in San Diego we offer special flower arrangements, wreaths, and bouquets for Memorial Day that you can use to decorate an event or send to someone special. We have numerous patriotic-themed flower arrangements to choose from. For example, A Patriot Tribute includes a patriotic mix of colors and numerous flower varieties, such as hydrangea, roses, miniature carnations, snapdragons, chrysanthemums and more, in a white urn. It comes in two sizes. Another option is A Grace and Love, which has red gladioli and carnations as well as white Asiatic lilies, myrtle, sword fern and salal. It also comes in an urn. We also have wreaths and sprays that provide a touching tribute for Memorial Day. A Patriot Spray includes lilies, snapdragons, delphinium, carnations and [...]

Peonies are Back for a Limited Time!

It’s that time of year again where we have peonies in stock. Since it’s a very short season, it’s a good excuse to order these gorgeous flowers to decorate your home, add to your upcoming nuptials, or include in a flower arrangement that you are gifting to a special someone.= All About Peonies Peonies are long-life perennials that start to produce a magnificent display of single and double blooms in an array of colors – from white to deep red – in late spring and early summer, depending where you live in the U.S. Peonies also have glossy, dark green leaves that shine all season long. Peonies are a favorite in flower arrangements because their cut flowers can last more than a week if they are cut in full bud.  There are six main types of herbaceous peonies: Single: This peony has a single or double row of broad petals that encircle fertile stamens with carpels visible. Japanese: This peony has a single or double row of broad petals that encircle broadened staminodes that may carry pollen along the edges with carpels visible. Anemone: This peony also has a single or double row of broad petals that encircle narrow incurved petal-like staminodes while fertile stamens are absent but carpels visible. Semi-double: This peony has a single or double row of broad petals that encircle further broad petals that are intermingled with stamens. Bomb: This peony has a single row of broad petals that encircle a shorter dense area of narrower petals. Double: This peony has a flower that only consists of many broad petals, including those that are altered stamens and carpels. Our Selection of Peonies We have a number of peony flower arrangements available as well as bulk peonies to [...]
