Hanukkah4The Hanukkah holiday celebration is here and many families all over the country are gathering in fellowship to celebrate the miracle of the Menorah. This celebration will go on for eight whole days in remembrance of the story of the miracle of the lighting of the Menorah in the Jewish temple.

They had found only a small amount of oil, but the Menorah burned on for eight whole days an event that marked the start of Hanukkah.

Flowers for Hanukkah

Secularly, Hanukkah is compared to Christmas and often gifts are given during the celebration — sometimes gifts are actually exchanged every single day over the eight day period of the holiday. So this Hanukkah holiday, why not celebrate with the gift of flowers or a gift basket?Hanukkah1

Traditions of Hanukkah

There are many traditions of the Hanukkah celebration and some are truly quite unique. So whether it’s your first time hosting the celebration or you are just looking for something new, you have come to the right place.

Let’s talk about the Dreidel – first, what is it? It’s a four sided top that has a Hebrew letter on each side. These letters stand for ‘a great miracle happened there’ and despite some disbelief, the tradition of the Dreidel is quite old.  It makes a fun game for kids and adults alike.Hanukkah3

Another tradition is the candle lighting as Hanukkah is often referred to as the ‘festival of lights.’ The candle lighting comes from the miracle of the Menorah. As the story goes, the Hebrew people had only enough oil to light the Menorah for a single day yet it burned on for eight. Candles can be lit in remembrance of this miraculous event.

Allen’s Flowers and Plants would like to wish a happy Hanukkah and happy holidays to everyone. Have fun and be safe this holiday season.
